My friends, this issue is a deep and most spiritual one for our nation and I respect everyone’s posted opinion. Here’s my own: I can’t imagine that any volunteer military person’s family whom would ever loan them in service to our country, possibly making the ultimate sacrifice, as so many long have and shall do in the future…if said volunteer’s family knew that their employing military branch guardian and one U.S. senator [whom I voted for as a potential Commander-in-Chief]…would block the morally required rescue of their fallen loved one’s remains. All these loyal poor descendant families desire, is a dignified transfer from one of the poorest looking supposed resting places ever, Tripoli, Libya…to back HERE…where they always deserved to be in the first place. In the deepest spirit of patriotism, as a combat veteran myself—I hope that no American would ever deem to pick and choose when, or, if, any hero national servant gets left behind or not. We must be a better military, a better Congress, and, a better nation than ever leaving any military employee behind. Not, like when in this case—we know exactly where these thirteen earliest of U.S. war heroes lay. Nor when any family wants them brought home. History stares our nation in the face on this, so we must not look the other way as if it doesn’t really concern us, or, isn’t somehow, a now current issue of importance. Call your Congressional and Senate elected tomorrow via the Capitol Hill Switchboard: (202) 224-3121 Request they not support, but ACT…to have the USS Intrepid crew remains brought home by insuring HR.1497 and S.1138 is restored to the National Defense Authorization Act 2012. As for the costs, even thogh the DoD might use already had funds for this, this recovery shouldn’t cost taxpayers a dime as fundraising to cover any expense here began awhile back.

We are all excited about the prospects of the replacement VA Hospital at Fitzsimons finally getting started. Why we lost 27 months from the official ground breaking ceremony is yet to be determined, but the real cost is the hospital is not scheduled to be completed until sometime in 2015. The original plans called for early in 2014, but because of these delays in "signing a contract" the veterans are left with a longer wait. I don't know about you, but I have lost many vet friends that could have used this hospital. How many more will pass before it is finally completed.

Sure I agree this is a moment to celebrate, but let's all stay alert and make sure the new promises are kept. Don't let down our guard now. Let's see it through to completion.

There is not a legionnaire the does not feel strongly about veteran support.
I am as Conservative of thought as most I expect. I think that for the economics to turned positive in this country there will need to be more give and take in negotiations from both left and right on any issue. AL leadership must propose what you have in the letter above to demonstrate to the rank & file that you are strong on their issues. Part of the problem is trying to operate within the bureaucracy of which the VA is only one of the entities. Bureaucracies of all types are being stonewalled and divided along partisan politics at this time and I would expect it will be for some time. I am afraid that U.S. citizens have not suffered enough yet. They have not seen just how bad bad is or how poor poor is as a veteran has. Veterans and many citizens are in two different worlds at this time. They don't care what you sacrificed as they believe that they now find their world out of control. The U.S. military needs to change more. More and better intelligence, more quick response special trained forces. More quick in and out tactics. More infiltration tactics with far less boots on the ground than in the past.
Keeping the enemy constantly wondering where will they arrive or do
next. Being far less visible yet always prepared with small strike forces
that disrupt and get out. The lack of ability for the enemy to get itself organized for any length of time will pay big dividends. This I think will require less standing Divisions by number and personnel which will placate those who want to reduce the size of the military to control spending. The AL compromise would be the create the highly effective and efficient forces I mentioned above. I fought gorilla warfare tactics in VN and I'm convinced that it is very effective and most conflicts will be oriented in that fashion in the future. America will never be conquered on that principle alone. Individuals of the countries we need to monitor will need to be trained and returned to the home countries to move throughout the country and be far less visible to report the developments they see and hear. We can carry the fight to the enemy any way we please now with aircraft carriers and their support ships that can locate close enough to any location on the planet to be highly effective. We have some strategic land bases that serve the same purpose. Drones and their effectiveness will keep any enemy constantly on guard and feeling very vulnerable. This is exactly where we want any
enemy. Trying to conquer as we have done in Iraq and Afghanistan appears to be heading to the results of VN. Upheaval immediately appears once we leave the scene. Large units in the U.S. future will need to maintained on paper. National Guard and Reserve will become a larger component of security. We can support the veteran and have a very effective military by the above course. This will eventually be the only way that you will be able to generate vertern proram support and sell the need and ability of the military we find to protect our freedoms.
More bang of the buck and less bucks. The idea of a military is to create peace so that we actually eliminate size or need for it. Easier said than done of course. The military is one of the institutions that if successful actually eliminates itself.

Good day and keep up the good fight.
